American Kestral The kestral is the smallest of the North American Falcons. They live in grasslands, woodlands and even some cities. They prey on iinsects, lizards, and mice and other birds. In some areas they migrate south for the winter.
The female's wings are brown while the male has a reddish back and tail and gray/blue wings. They do not build nests. They lay their eggs onthe ground on or ledges or iin holes of trees or other abandoned areas. Most falcons do no survive their first year of life but if they do, they can expect to live around 10 years.
